Marius Ursache, co-founder Grapefruit, launched, together with a team from MIT, an unusual digital platform, Eterni.me, that promises its users to stay alive online after their real life ends.

“Eterni.me was created as a solution to the desire to remain in the memory of the close ones and send ideas and advices to future generations”, Ursache said.

Although in beta version, in just 4 days since launch, the platform was accessed by 55,000 people and the number of those that opted in for testing reached to 3,000 after just one week.

The platform is based on AI algorithms that generate a digital alter-ego for the user, based on digital data and info generated during that person’s life time, from photos and emails to posts on Facebook Twtter or LinkedIN.

The owner of the avatar has the option to adjust his alter-ego’s knowledge and even personality.

The beta version will be available in US starting 2015 and will be by invite only
