Change of heart at Romanian State TV: Keep TVR Cultural licence!

Publicitate

TVR’s Management Board decided with 12 votes for and 1 abstenation to demand Romanian CNA to “conserve TVR Cultural’s licence”, despite that, in August, the same board approved TVR Cultural’s dissolvance and the take over of its mission by TVR 2, Mediafax wrote.

The decision was taken on Thursday, while CNA was analyzing another demand from TVR, namely completely renounce to TVR Cultural’s licence. CNA members decided, during their meeting, to send a letter to the Culture Committees in Parliament and inform them on the situation of TVR Cultural, with its licence set to expire on Saturday.

“Conservation” term does not exist in Romanian audiovisual legislation. When a licence expires (such it is the care of the one for TVR Cultural, that expired on 15 December), CNA withdraws the licence, as it is stipulated by law. When a company wants to restart broadcasting a channel, it needs to present CNA a new set of documentation in which to demand for a new audiovisual licence
