The contracts Eurosport has with RCS&RDS, UPC Romania and Romtelecom (Dolce) in order to broadcasts its channels in Romania will expire on December 31st, as Laura Georgescu, CNA president, stated for Mediafax.

She said RCS&RDS notified CNA and announced that it is in talks with Eurosport in order to make a new contract; RCS also mentioned that, if its efforts related to making a new contract fail, it reserves the right to change the retransmission and eliminate Eurosport channels from its programs schedule.

Laura Georgescu said that CNA is analyzing the case of Eurosport broadcasting and mentioned that Eurosport notified, on December 19th, UPC Romania and Romtelecom (Dolce) over including, starting December 21st, a window with the football games from Premier League.

According to RCS&RDS, where Liverpool –Cardiff game was available just partially, company’s representatives decided to stop the signal because it was available in its network not just in Romania and it would have affected the broadcasting rights that Eurosport gave to companies in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

At its turn, Romtelecom issued a position in which explained that the Premier League games transmissions need special technical adjustments of its platform. Still, Romtelecom said those adjustments will be made fast and the games from Premier League will be available starting next week.
