Valeria Dorneanu, chief of Political Department and Senior Editor Digi24, left RCS&RDS news station, after being informed, via SMS, that her contract – closed for a determined period of time – wasn’t renewed anymore, as she stated for HotNews.ro.
Dorneanu said that, even if that wouldn’t have happened, she would’ve quit anyways because “the political orientation is changing for the electoral year”, adding that “a proof are the recent layoffs”, through which more people from the team Digi 24 was launched with were left without their job within the station.
Cosmin Prelipceanu, editor in chief Digi 24, said he is ”unpleasantly surprised” by Dorneanu’s statements and asked viewers to be the ones to appreciate if impartiality and honesty will keep being respected at Digi 24.
“Digi24 never had a political orientation. That is why I am unpleasantly surprised that, after 2 years of collaboration, the former chief of our Political Department – Valeria Dorneanu, considers that it can be changed. It is clear that a very interesting year started and I invite the viewers to be the ones to appreciate if impartiality and honesty principle will be respected in the same manner as until now”.
