“We made this decision to stop a loss (…) It was a title running in red, with a market positioning without to many perspectives”, Mihnea Vasiliu, General Manager Ringier România, said.

“We will focus on consolidating the Glossy Premium segment, and strengthen the titles in this segment”, he added. Ringier has in portfolio titles like Unica, Avantaje, Elle and Psychologies.

Vasiliu added that, when it comes of the people in Joy redaction, around 10 people, they will most likely go.

Closing Joy comes a month after Ringier decided to close another title, Bravo magazine.
Joy is present on Romanian market since 2004 and was published by Edipresse, entering Ringier’s portfolio in 2010. At that time, Ringier decided to drop Joy’s rival title, Bolero.

In the last quarter of 2013, Joy sold, per edition, around 12,000 copies.
