RCS&RDS sued UPC and NextGen, but also Romtelecom and Digital Cable Systems. Initially, it sued UPC and NextGen (owned by Romtelecom) because the cable operators refuse to introduce in their programs schedule Digi 24, which is on the list of TVs free for retransmission.
The justice action was introduced at Bucharest’s District 1 Court on May 15th.
Digi24 is on the list of stations free for retransmission. Initially, CNA approved cable operators’ programs schedules without Digi24 but, afterwards, it demanded to verify the schedules to see if they comply must carry. After the verification, CNA decided to summon publcly 20 cable companies, among which RCS&RDS, UPC and Romtelecom, as their programs schedules were missing more TVs free for retransmission, among which Digi 24, Alfa Omega, Credo TV and Mynele TV.
