CNA’s 2012: 115 fines for over RON 3M

OTV, Antena 1 and Antena 3 received the highest fines from CNA in 2012, with the Council applying this year 115 fines worth in total over RON 3M (EUR 670.000), a Mediafax analysis shows.

In total, CNA applied to TV and radio stations (central and local) and to cable operators a total of 320 sanctions, from which 189 summons and 115 fines, but also decided to stop the normal emission of some TV stations for 10 mins and 3 hours and to reduce the licence of a TV station (OTV)

CNA was more strict this year than in 2011, considering that, last year, it applied 249 sanctions, from which 112 fines (woth RON 2.17M) and 137 summons.

The top of CNA sanctions

  • OTV –  10 fines (RON 605,000), 5 summons, emission stopped for 10 mins and 3 hours
  • Antena 1 – 5 fines (RON 400,000), 2 summons, emission stopped 2 times, 10 minutes each time
  • Antena 3 –  8 (RON 273,500), 4 summons and 2 decision to give right to reply
  • TVR – 9 fines (RON 185,000) and 6 summons.
  • Kanal D – 3 (RON 165,000), 2 summons and 1 decision to stop broadcasting for 10 mins
  • Pro TV – 2 fines (RON 130,000), 2 summons and 1 decision to stop broadcasting for 10 mins.
  • Romania TV – 7 (RON 115,000 lei), 5 summons and 1 decision to give right to reply
  • Acasa TV – 1 fine (RON 100,000);
  • Realitatea TV – 5 (RON 72,000 lei), 9 summons and 3 decisions to give right to reply.
  • Prima TV – 2 (RON 60,000).
  • B1 TV – 3 (RON 30,000) and 3 summons.
  • Digi Film – 1 fine (RON 10,000).
  • Naşul TV – 1 fine (RON 5,000) and 2 summons.
  • The Money Channel – 1 fine (RON 5,000) and 1 summon .
  • Digi 24 – 2 summons.

Sport.ro, Antena 2, DDTV, Taraf TV, Giga TV, Favorit TV, Etno TV, Dynamic Distribution, Euforia Lifestyle TV, UTV, Kiss TV and Music Channel – each received a public summon from CNA
